Description
Professional Baroque wooden Flute Headjoints – Alexandre Lavoie Workshop
Based in Montreal, Quebec, Alexandre Lavoie is both a flutist and artisan, trained in classical and jazz performance. After studying under flute maker Jonathan Landell and completing a specialized program in digital programming and machining at the Aerospace Trade School, he has dedicated himself since 2017 to crafting high-end wooden headjoints.
Each Lavoie headjoint combines meticulous craftsmanship with technical precision. Alexandre draws inspiration from the unique tonal qualities of different woods to offer flutists a rich and expressive sound palette, perfectly suited to the needs of professionals and passionate players alike.
Lavoie Baroque Flute Headjoint
The Lavoie Baroque flute headjoint is a faithful reproduction of the traditional traverso, delivering the soft, warm, and rich sound characteristic of Baroque flutes. It is especially suited for flutists who wish to explore the traverso while continuing to play their modern flute, enjoying the quality and comfort of a Lavoie headjoint without having to learn a new instrument.
Primarily crafted in grenadilla, the wood of choice for its exceptional tonal qualities—warmth, richness, and timbre—the Baroque headjoint can also be made on request from other carefully selected woods, such as mopane or pink ivory, providing a unique tonal palette and enhanced expressivity.
Each piece of wood is meticulously selected to ensure quality, beauty, and performance: over 5 years of drying, rich grain, closed pores, and knot-free wood.
The Lavoie Baroque headjoint thus combines authentic tradition and artisanal craftsmanship, offering an instrument that is both true to its historical roots and highly playable.
An instrument that reflects your artistry:
Each wood species shapes the flute’s personality, giving every musician the opportunity to find the headjoint that best matches their style and expression.
••• We encourage you to request a trial from your dealer to experience the full richness and subtleties of Lavoie wooden headjoints. He will adjust it for a perfect fit with the body of your flute
A wooden headjoint requires special attention:
• wipe carefully after each use,
• oil both inside and outside regularly,
• avoid sudden changes in temperature and humidity.
Accessories:
• a complete care kit,
• a charming protective fleece “sock”, handcrafted by Dôme France.
